Why Hungary?

Dental care in Hungary

Hungary has an excellent reputation for quality dental care due to the country’s excellent education system, training and professionalism of their practitioners.  There is a requirement for all qualified dental practitioners to be registered on the national practitioner registry.

Dental Training

Hungary has a high level training system for dentists. Since 1 May, 2004, there has been mutual recognition of dental diplomas throughout Europe showing formal recognition of the quality operating standards of Hungarian dentists.

To assist dentists, hygienists are only certified after a year of specialization and two years of training as dental assistants - while dental technicians follow a 3 year course of studies at university and in practice which is documented with the issue of a certificate. Dental technicians spend substantial time working to construct dentures.

Hungarian dentists work in both private and public sectors and are recognised as offering a high level Western-style service at Eastern European prices. Many dentists from our selected clinics have years of experience working in Germany, Austria and across Europe. In fact, during 2007 many Hungarian dentists were recruited to work in clinics in the UK.

Qualification of dentists

Ongoing professional development and training are mandatory and all dentists are registered in the dental section of the Hungarian Chamber of Medical Professional and with the Ministry of Health and carry civil liability insurance - which is not always the case in some other European countries.

Dentists are required, as in England and other countries, to adhere to an ethical code which governs best dental practice.

See the clinic section for detailed information on our dentists and partner clinics.
